SOUTH COAST SURF CHASERS - MALABU MANIACS - THE SURF SEEKERS

Around 1958 the malibu style surfboards were starting to appear along the coast south of Adelaide. At this time there were only a few people surfing. Jim Miller who was a member of Chiton Rocks S.L.S.C. and along with Pete Smith and a few others purchased a 1934 Ford V8 and had a β€œThe South Coast Surf Chasers'β€œ sign written along the sides of the car. Jim welded up some special surf Racks for the car, and some of the other crew surfing at the time did likewise with the Surf Seekers Car and the Malabu Maniacs car. These 3 cars cruised the South Coast west of Victor Harbor for around 4 years up until 1963 when they all ended up at the local rubbish dump.
