FISHERY BAY SURF RIDERS

The club was formed by Trevor White around 1962. Fishery Bay was the first surf riders club formed in South Australia. The surfers from the Fisheries club ran one of the first surfing events in South Australia at Fishery Bay in 1962, which was attended by surfers from Adelaide. They also ran surf carnivals in 1963 at Sleaford Bay and Mt Greenly. These guys also pioneered most of the tracks and roads that led to the surf breaks on lower Eyre Penninsula.

In 1963 Ken “Kiwi” White, no relation to club founder Trevor White, moved from Adelaide to Port Lincoln the home town of the Fishery Bay Surf Club. Kiwi Bought an old second hand 1934 Ford V8. Which was turned into the West Coast Surf Chasers. The exact same model car as the South Coast Surf Chasers car of the Victor Harbour area. He paid 25pounds. The specialty of these Surf Chaser cars were the rack setup of an acute angle that took multiple boards. These racks were unique to South Australia.
